WHAT A SUCCESS!
Finally the night came for Fashion Design to show their fabulous talent that all of Nottingham Trent have been dying to see. With only two shows last night, the room was heaving, full of people from the university and industry, eager to see what amazing things that this Fashion Design year have been slaving over for months. With innovative designs and immaculate construction, it was just as good, if not better than expected, with the product display creating an interactive exhibition you could really get to grips with alongside the actual show.
With Product being a new area of the course, it definitely got off to a spectacular start with displays of beautifully layered outfits, styled photo shoots, exquisitely put together look books and an illustration book that even formed it's own queue of people so intrigued to see it.
Graduate Fashion Week is the next time to see this diverse array of new designers. You'd be mad to miss it.

THE BEST IS YET TO COME
GRADUATE FASHION WEEK GETS SERIOUS ABOUT THE BUSINESS OF FASHION
It's that time of year again when new graduates release themselves upon the world. Graduate Fashion Week (GFW) has, for twenty years, been promoting creativity and attracting some of the industry's biggest players as it is the place where graduating students can begin making their mark on the world of fashion. As well as showcasing the very best of BA Graduate Fashion design talent, GFW also work to help and nurture students to kick start a career within the industry. In their own words, they are ''keen to create awareness of the breadth of jobs available in the industry beyond the design studio''.
At GFW... Erin O'Connor + Harold Tilman - Alberta Ferretti
The Protege Project also held by GFW is in it's second year, helping graduates get a foot on the industry's career ladder, which is often so hard to do. With GEORGE's involvement this year in educating new talent about the array of career opportunities within the fashion industry, there is no doubt it will be a successful follow up to last year.
Obviously I'm most excited to see who shows from Nottingham Trent. With the few bits I have sneaked a peek at already, it promises to be a good year at GFW for Trent this year.
Tickets are selling out very quickly so make sure you get yours!

ALMOST THE END
With a hand in date looming and a degree show to construct in a week you might say I'm a tad stressed. But as I always say, the fear is good!!!
Anyway, I thought I'd give you a look into how my current project is coming to a close.
One of the images I have uploaded is a thumbnail board of my fashion sample collection.
With a starting point of delicate structures, I took inspiration from butterflies and other winged creatures as well as intricate lace and crochet designs. Colours expressed through the wonderfully delicate wings and bodies of butterflies have bled through my silks, chiffons and suedes to create a delicacy refined by laser cutting techniques and other material effecting processes.
The photo images don't look half as good as the samples themselves but the colours are still beauts.

NEW TO THE GAME
After umming and ahhing for a while I have decided to be pro-active and become part of the blogging world. As an almost graduate of a textile design course, this is another way to immerse myself into the world of design, fashion, styling and concept building.
I will be keeping the blog up to date with my progression from student to graduate, as scary to me as it is, as well as generating new ideas, concepts and research for future design projects and documenting travels and trips for inspiration. I hope it will be as interesting for you as I know it will for me.
